PRESSURE ESCAPE

In recent years, trade professions have experienced shortages of qualified professionals. The problem stems not only from trade companies struggling to find qualified employees, but furthermore, research reveals current career orientation fairs — specifically within the trade field — are not captivating the attention of young people, and therefore fail to inspire them towards trade professions.

Focusing on the sanitary installation industry, the vision of this project was to create a design proposal that combines an entertaining spatial experience - a trade pop-up escape room - with a strong service system that can fast-track young individuals to connect with companies, guilds, and other educational opportunities. Within this, a human centered approach bridges the gap between young peoples’ career orientational needs, and trade profession offerings.

How dose Pressure Escape works: A movable van meets with generation Y & Z wherever they are, at career fairs or outdoor events, offering them the chance to experience the profession through becoming a protagonist in their own trade adventure. In this way, the escape room can playfully introduce young people within 30 minutes to the trade profession, and support trade companies to connect with empathy and passion to this younger generation.
